About Ferrol
Ferrol is a city in the Province of A Coruña in Galicia, located on the Atlantic coast in north-western Spain.

The town is divided into three areas, old Ferrol, new Ferrol and Esterio. Old Ferrol is the most ancient part, once surrounded by walls, of which sections of it still remain.

In New Ferrol, Plaza de la Constitución, joins the promenades of the Cantón de Molíns and the Alameda. The Gardens of Herrera provide a quiet retreat. Nearby churches include the 18th century Church of San Julián and the Church of El Espíritu Santo.

The Esteiro has wide, parallel streets, and is situated between the naval shipyards and New Ferrol.

People have lived in Ferrol for thousands of years and there many burial chambers, large stone monuments and petroglyphs in the region.

Ferrol was the main base for the Spanish Navy in the 17th century and many fortresses and castles were build including San Felipe and la Palma, which stand at the foot of steep hillsides close to the port area.

Panoramic views can be seen of Ferrol and the surrounding area from Mirador de la Ermita de Chamorro.

The Museo Naval has collections of naval equipment, models of ships and lots of information regarding naval history.

El Rincon de Santa Combo is a white, sandy beach and popular due to the many watersports, shops and restaurants nearby.

Tapas, seafood dishes and international cuisine are all options in Ferrol.
