About Elba
Elba is a Mediterranean island in Tuscany, Italy, the capital being Portoferraio.

Places of interest include Villa dei Mulini (Napoleon's Palace), Fortezze Medicee and the Museo delia Misericordia.

The sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte is a sacred building, located at the foot of Monte Giove at Marciana, 645m above sea level. It is the oldest and most famous shrine on Elba.

A two hour climb up the highest peak on Elba, Monte Capanne, provides hikers with a panoramic view of the mainland of Italy and the islands of Corsica, Capraia, Pianosa and Monte Cristo.

There are many beaches in and around Portoferraio, ranging from fine and sandy to shingle and pebbled.

Jewellery made with stones mined from Elba and an assortment of maritime themed items are available on the island.

Local dishes include the 'Gnocchi All'Elbana' and lots of fresh fish.
Cruise Terminal
The dock is in the middle of Portoferraio, at the bottom of the Fortezze Medicee. To the right of here lies the marina and upscale shops. Portoferraio is very walkable but a little hilly.

Taxis and tourist vans are accessible from the parking lot in front of the dock.
