About Colombo
Colombo is the largest city and the commercial, industrial and cultural capital of Sri Lanka. It is located on the west coast of the island, in the Indian Ocean.

The centre of Colombo is known as "The Fort" which is easily explored on foot. The Pettah bazaar district is nearby selling just about anything you'll ever need!

Cinammon Gardens is home to the National Museum and art gallery as well as Viharamahadevi Park, the largest park in Colombo.

The Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara or Kelaniya Temple is a Buddhist temple in Kelaniya around 7 miles from Colombo.

Dehiwala Zoo is located around 6 miles from Colombo and is set in 37 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds.

Cuisine mainly consists of boiled or steamed rice served with curry. This usually consists of a "main curry" of fish, chicken, pork or mutton (typically goat), as well as other curries made with vegetables, lentils and fruit.
Cruise Terminal
Ships currently dock at Queen Elizabeth Pier but the port at Colombo is undergoing an expansion programme to include 4 new terminals so visitors need to check on up to date information for their cruise ship.

Taxis are usually available at the pier but agree a price before setting off.
