Overview Of The Port Of Cadiz

About Cadiz
Cadiz is located in the Andalucia region of Southern Spain.

The city itself is a mix of narrow winding alleys, connecting large plazas, and wide avenues with more modern buildings. Cadiz is home to many striking plazas, including the Plaza de Mina in the heart of the old town and the beautiful Plaza San Antonio, which is surrounded by a number of mansions. San Antonio church is also located here. Numerous parks are dotted around Cadiz, with many exotic plants.

There are several golden sandy beaches, including La Playa de la Caleta in the old part and La Playa de la Victoria, in the newer area of Cadiz.

There is a central market (near Plaza de las Flores) which sells a wide range of food products and souvenirs. Nearby Columbela Street is a major shopping area with a good range of clothing, shoes books and furniture.

Local dishes include 'Pescaíto Frito' (assorted fried plates of fresh fish) and shellfish. These can be enjoyed with numerous wines from the Wine and Brandy routes in the Marco de Jerez region.
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships dock in the commercial port, which is in the centre of the city. This makes Cadiz ideal for exploring easily on foot. There is a small Tourist Information office at the port.

Seville is a popular destination for travellers disemarking at Cadiz. The easiest way is by train, the station is just off the Plaza Sevilla, which is about 15 minutes walk away from the port. Regular trains depart for Seville daily and the journey time is around 1½-1¾ hours.
