About Broome
Broome is a tourist town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Broome is the Pearling capital of Australia and visitors can take a cruise to a local pearl farm to learn about the origins of the business.

Visit the oldest operating outdoor cinema in the world – Sun Pictures or browse the local galleries including the Broome Historical Society and the Broome 6 Gallery.

Broome has plenty shopping opportunities, good buys include their famous pearls and locally made crafts. Visit the shops in China Town or the popular weekend Court House Market.

Cable Beach, a few miles from the centre of town, has 22km of beautiful white sand, striking red cliffs and ancient dinosaur footprints at Gantheaume Point. Witness the illusion known as the “Staircase to the Moon”, on certain dates from March to October, when the full moon coincides with low tide at Roebuck Bay.

There are many activities on offer from bird-watching, fishing and cycling, to off road driving, golf and hiking.

There is a wide range of cuisines, local restaurants serve a mix of local specialities, fresh fish and seafood as well as international favourites such as Chinese, French, Italian and casual fast food.

Cruise ships dock at Broome port, the pier is around 8km from the centre of town. There are usually local buses waiting to take visitors into town.
