About Brest
Brest is a city in Brittany in north western France. The city is located on the western edge of continental Europe.
Brest was almost completely destroyed in WWII so there are few historic buildings remaining. The Castle and Tanguy Tower stand on opposite sides of the Penfold River and house historical museums.
There is an Oceanographic Museum and a Botanical Garden, specialising in endangered plants.
Brest has a fine natural harbour with a good variety of beaches.
Seafood is extremely popular in the region, along with the famous 'Breton crepe'.
'Traou Mad' are traditional biscuits similar to Scottish shortbread.
