Bourgas

Bourgas (or Burgas) is the second largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast.

For a taste of traditional Bulgaria, Nesebar Village (or Nessebar/Nesebur) is an ancient town and UNESCO World Heritage Site, with cobbled streets, quaint little shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Strandja Nature Park is among the top wildlife sites in Eastern Europe with many different species of birds, butterflies, reptiles and flowers.

Ravadinovo Castle is located just before village of Ravadinovo. There are gardens, an artificial lake, art gallery, wine cellar and several large halls.

Action Aqua Park is situated in the western part of Sunny Beach resort and has 13 different pools, slides and rides.

There are many churches in and around Bourgas including Saints Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Cathedral, Holy Theotokos Orthodox Church and Saint John of Rila (Ivan Rilski) Orthodox Church.

Other attractions in the area include Bourgas Regional Historical Museum, Archaeological Museum, Museum of Nature and Science and Sunny Beach resort.

Most Bulgarian dishes are oven baked, steamed, or in the form of stew. Pork meat is the most common meat in the Bulgarian cuisine. Bulgarian white brine cheese called "sirene" is a popular ingredient used in salads and pastries. Fish and chicken are also widely eaten.

Ships dock at the Port of Bourgas, which is the biggest port in Bulgaria.

The new International Cruise Terminal is operational from October 2013.
