Overview Of The Port Of Boston

About Boston
Boston is the capital of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the state's largest city and the county seat of Suffolk County in the United States of America.

The Freedom Trail is a 2½ mile trail linking 16 historic sites. Maps and information are available at the Boston Common information centre on Tremont Street.

The Museum of Fine Arts is one of the finest art museums in the country, noted for its Impressionist collection.

Boston Common is the city's version of New York's Central Park, adjacent is Boston Public Garden, where you'll find the city's famed Swan Boats on the lagoon.

Near the Common are the expensive shops of Newbury Street. Malls can be found at Copley Place and the Prudential Center. Beacon Hill area's boutiques have one of a kind antiques and crafts.

Popular souvenirs include anything with a lobster logo, Harvard and MIT sweatshirts, Red Sox items and "Cheers" mugs.

Faneuil Hall is a lively historical spot with street performers, food court, restaurants, bars and shops.

The New England Aquarium (Central Wharf) has an excellent indoor fish collection, sea lions, seals and whale watching excursions.

For sports fans, head to Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox.

The Bull & Finch Pub in Beacon Hill was the inspiration for "Cheers" and serves a decent burger.

Boston is known for baked beans - it's nickname is "Beantown". Also popular are bulkie rolls, lobster and Boston cream pie, a cake that is filled with a custard or cream filling and frosted with chocolate.
