Overview Of The Port Of Bornholm
About Bornholm
Bornholm is a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, to the east of most of Denmark, south of Sweden, and north of Poland.
Hammershus is North Europe's largest medieval fortification, built in the 13th century.
Nyker Round Church is believed to have been built in the early 13th century, the youngest of the round churches in the area.
The Østerlars Round Church, the oldest round church, is central to the theory of there being a link between the French Knights Templar and the location of Bornholm's medieval churches.
There are lots of outdoor activities on offer here including fishing, cycling, walking and golf.
The beautiful rift valley Blåskindsdalen is situated near a walking path close to Jons Kapel.
Bornholm offers a good choice of beaches from child-friendly ones with shallow water at Balka and the almost endless beach at Dueodde, to the rocky coast at Sandkås and Sandvig.
You will find many shopping opportunities in Bornholm ranging from flea markets, gift shops, craft workshops and more. Ceramics, local foods, jewellery and glass all make good gifts.
Smørrebrød (open sandwiches) can be considered a national speciality when prepared and decorated with a variety of fine ingredients. Traditional hot meals consist of frikadeller (meatballs), flæskesteg (roast pork with crackling) or kogt torsk (poached cod) with mustard sauce and trimmings.
