Overview Of The Port Of Barentsburg

About Barentsburg
Barentsburg is the second largest settlement on Svalbard, an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. It is also the only remaining Russian settlement in Svalbard.

Take a tour around the town or visit the Pomor Musuem with exhibits of Pomor culture, Arctic flora and fauna and unique archaeological objects.

Other places of interest include a Lenin statue and the small wooden chapel, built to commemorate the victims of a plane crash.

On the hillside above Barentsburg is a star and slogan "Peace to the World". When it can be seen, it heralds the coming of summer.

Popular souvenirs include matryoshka dolls, pins, Russian caps and clothing.

Local dishes include boiled pork and potatoes, lamb, chicken and Arctic sorrel. Russian champagne, vodka and even caviar can be enjoyed at the Barentsburg Hotel.
Cruise Terminal
Depending on weather conditions, your cruise ship may anchor and Zodiac (inflatable boats) used.
