Overview Of The Port Of Amsterdam

About Amsterdam
Amsterdam is the capital of The Netherlands, located in the North Sea, bordered by Belgium to the south and Germany to the east.

Take a canal boat cruise which offers the best overview of the many picturesque bridges and gabled homes which make this city unique.

Other places of interest include The Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank's House, Rembrandt's House Museum, the Royal Palace and the infamous Red Light District.

For shopping, there is something for everyone from large department stores to designer fashions and antique shops. The small streets between the main canals are lined with little shops and galleries. Diamonds, ceramics and old maps are popular buys.

Bicycle hire is available at Central Station.

Local dishes include Erwtensoep (thick pea soup), Bitterballen en frikadellen (deep fried meatballs with spicy rissoles and Uitsmijter (bread topped with cheese, ham and a fried egg).
Cruise Terminal
There are various options for docking in Amsterdam. The main terminal is near the start of the Eastern Docklands development, which is a 10 minute walk or 5 minute ride from Central Station, where all of the city's bus, trolley and boat lines can be taken. There is a Tourist Information office here.

River boat cruises also use the terminal so on occasion, either the Marine Terminal or the Felison Terminals are used. Both shuttle or bus passengers into the city.
