About Almeria
Almería is a city in Andalusia, Spain, on the Mediterranean Sea.

Almería is a city in Andalusia, Spain, situated in the southeast of the country, on the Mediterranean Sea.

As the town is located uphill, there is a lot of hilly walking to do. There are lots of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Popular souvenirs include traditional handcrafted items such as pottery, ceramics and woven hats and baskets.

Places of interest include the Museo Refugio de la Guerra Civil, Museum of Almeria, Iglesia de la Virgen del Mar and strolling along the promenade (Passeo de Almeria).

Oasys Theme Park is a western-style desert park built in the 1960’s for use as a film location. Apart from the Western Village, there is also a zoo, swimming pool, cactus garden and 2 museums.

Within Nijar Natural Park in Cabo de Gata, discover rocky islands, extensive coral reefs and hidden coves with sand beaches. It is Andalucia’s largest coastal protected area.

Many visitors head to Granada from here, however the journey by bus or train takes more than 2 hours each way.

Tabernas is located on the edge of the famous Tabernas Desert, the filming location of many feature films and TV series (see Oasys Theme Park). It is also the site of Moorish castle ruins, an old church, and a refurbished Teatro Municipal.

Mojacar is an elevated mountain village 90km from Almeria. To the south of the village, lies the popular tourist resort of Mojacar Playa.

Restaurants serve a range of options including local dishes such ‘gurullos’ (pasta stew), ‘gachas’ (hot and spicy clam stew) and ‘trigo’ (pork stew) as well as traditional Tapas, fresh fish and seafood, steaks and salads.
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships dock at the Port of Almeria, which is in the centre of town. The marina and the ferry port is also located here.
