Overview Of The Port Of Akpatok Island

About Akpatok Island
Akpatok Island is one of the uninhabited Canadian Arctic islands in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of Nunavut, Canada.

The island is a Canadian Important Bird Area, the Thick-billed Murre, Black Guillemot and Peregrine Falcon can be found here as well as polar bears, seals and walrus.

At the south end of the island there are remains of a Dorset settlement. The island is known for cannibalism which ended around 1900 when the inhabitants moved to the mainland and there still remains an abundance of mystery and legend surrounding the details of this island.
Cruise Terminal
Cruise ships are required to anchor and tender passengers ashore by zodiac. The sea here is often rough and this stop is occasionally missed.
