Overview Of The Port Of Acapulco

About Acapulco
Acapulco is a city in the state of Guerrero on the Pacific coast of Mexico.

There is a waterfront promenade which winds along the bay and leads to the beach of Playa Tlacopanocha.

Acapulco is divided into three districts - Old Acapulco, the Costera and Acapulco Diamante. Old Acapulco's town square is the centre of activity. The Nuestra Senora de la Soledad, a Moorish-style church, is here. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and shops. The Costera is a five mile bayside strip with hotels, shops, restaurants and beaches. The Diamante is home to exclusive homes and high end hotels and resorts.

Popular sights include Capilla de la Paz (Chapel of Peace), Mural Diego Rivera, El Fuerte de San Diego and Acapulco Historical Museum.

Shopping wise, there is Sanborn's, a department store, La Isla shopping centre close to the airport and the Costera has a few places to buy souvenirs, including silver jewellery and Mexican items.

Two of Acapulco's local dishes are "pescado a la talla," - grilled snapper seasoned with salt, pepper, mayonnaise, and a very hot sauce and "Ceviche" - cubes of raw fish marinated in lemon juice, with sliced onion, olives, capers, tomatoes, oregano, salt, cilantro, avocado, and a spicy sauce.
